Martin

The Martin M-130 China Clipper flew across the Pacific for the very first time in 1935, forever opening the skies to commercial flight. The aircraft was built by Glenn L. Martin Corporation in Baltimore, MD.

Our Martin Collection offers a series of timepieces based on vintage navigational instruments. Each limited edition below is rooted in American culture, history and innovation.

Mission

In 1999, a NASA astronaut commissioned Hartwig Balke to make a watch for his STS-99 mission. Our chronometers helped prove the efficacy of automatic movements in outer-space. Ever since, the same 7750 calibers have been used in each of the Mission Chronographs below.

Choptank

The CHOPTANK reflects the maritime heritage of the Chesapeake region, with a tonneau shape inspired by the iconic beacons guiding ships in the Choptank River.

This timepiece offers both full-calendar and chronograph functions symmetrically presented on a handmade silver dial. The galvanic blue sub-dials bring character and clarity to the grand-complication, while guilloché enhances the luxurious theme.

From platinum hands and markers to the deployment clasp of the strap, each component of the CHOPTANK is meticulously crafted into a mechanical masterpiece, boasting utility and an aura akin to the lighthouses that inspired its design.

Towson Watch Company Founders

“I started life as a watchmaker in 1948. Hartwig started out as an engineer. We work together well because he essentially does the design and engineering work that I can’t do. But I’ve had a lot of experience doing restoration of antique watches for museums. These are 200 to 300 year-old timepieces. We have both ends of the technical spectrum covered, from current engineering to an understanding of watchmaking 500 years ago.”
