The Choptank

Derived from the distinguished lineage of the Mission Chronograph, the Choptank is tailored exclusively for enthusiasts of fine watchmaking who value the specialty craftsmanship of independent artisans. Excelling in both traditional and artistic qualities, the Choptank boasts the same caliber 7751 movement and professional-grade quality as the space-proven Mission Moon.

Designed by Hartwig Balke, the Choptank | Series One is produced in two colors, silver and salmon. Each limited to 250 timepieces, numbered with the E250 reference and serial numbers on the back. A special edition Benzinger Choptank, with his trademark frosted sterling silver dial and rose-engine guilloche, is also produced by request. A second Choptank series will follow with the E250-2 reference number, featuring subtle evolutionary changes. 

Inspired by Chesapeake Bay's industrial heritage, the Choptank pays homage to historic beacons guiding ships through its waters. Echoing their utility and charm, Hartwig Balke designed a timepiece marrying form and purpose, drawing from the "screwpile-style" of the bay's beacons. Employing the 7751 movement transformed it into a functional tool, reflecting the beacons' value.

The Choptank embodies artisanal aspiration, marrying utilitarian efficiency with innate grace, epitomizing the elegance of functional instruments. Its notable ascent within the Towson Watch Collections has served as inspiration for our watchmakers to embark on further innovation and explore new horological territories. The distinctive tonneau-shape and captivating design has helped showcase Towson’s unique capabilities and talents as a specialty watch brand to a broader audience.
