The Choptank Editions

Second Edition Choptank Ref. E250-2 is dropping on this website soon.

Derived from the distinguished lineage of the Mission Chronograph, the Choptank is tailored exclusively for enthusiasts who collect the work of independent artisans and specialty craftsman. Excelling in both function and aesthetics, it is powered by the same caliber 7751 movement as the space-proven Mission Moon and built with its professional-grade qualities. Yet, it is an elegant grand-complication masterpiece that boasts the traditional style of watchmaking that TWC is renowned for with distinctively artistic appeal.

Designed by Hartwig Balke, the Choptank | First Edition was produced in two colors: silver and a salmon-toned (copper). Each limited to 100 timepieces, numbered with the E250 reference and unique serial numbers on the back. A special edition Benzinger Choptank, with his trademark frosted sterling silver dial and rose-engine guilloche, is also periodically produced by request. Our Second Edition Choptank follows almost a decade later (2024 Release Date) with the E250-2 reference number, featuring the same signature tonneau-shape and stylistic identity with significant aesthetic updates on the dial.

Hartwig Balke’s Vision

Hartwig Balke drew inspiration from Maryland’s maritime heritage upon moving from Germany.  He often sailed in the Choptank River with his co-founder, George Thomas, and became captivated by the uniquely-shaped beacons that guide ships to safe passage through the shallow waters at night. These iconic structures, with their distinct presence and symbolism, sparked Hartwig’s creativity and led to the first sketches of what would become the CHOPTANK Towson Watch.
